Social security law
The rights for private individuals
Hardly any other law in Switzerland has grown as much as social insurance law. In 1912, the electorate approved the creation of health and accident insurance. This was followed by nine further social insurance schemes: the Income Compensation Act (EO), old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV), military insurance (MV), family allowances, disability insurance (IV), supplementary benefits (EL), unemployment and insolvency compensation, occupational benefits insurance (BVG) and, most recently, maternity insurance (MV).
Each of these insurance policies has its own form of organization and therefore its own legal basis. However, they are all based on the certainty that they will pay benefits if the damage is due to a very specific cause. For example, in the event of an accident or illness. These rights are correspondingly important for the citizens of our society. We have specialized in social insurance law because the rights of private individuals are important to us.
